  • Perform backup and recovery operations using mysqldump, Percona XtraBackup, RDS automated snapshots, and point-in-time recovery (PITR).
  • Tune query performance using EXPLAIN, slow query logs, indexing strategies, and database parameter group optimization.
  • Monitor database health and performance using CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, or Percona Monitoring & Management (PMM).
  • Manage database users, roles, privileges, and ensure compliance with security and audit requirements.
  • Automate routine maintenance tasks using Shell/Bash scripting and cron jobs.

  • Participate in on-call rotation and handle Severity-1 incidents within defined SLAs.
  • Collaborate with application, DevOps, and cloud infrastructure teams during releases and deployments.

Required Skills

  • Practical experience with AWS RDS and Aurora MySQL (provisioning, monitoring, scaling, failover).
  • Solid understanding of replication, backup/recovery, and high availability concepts.
  • Experience with performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Proficiency in Linux systems and Shell scripting for automation.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus, or PMM.
  • Strong troubleshooting and incident-resolution skills in a production support setting.

Good to Have

  • Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
  • AWS certification (Cloud Practitioner, Solutions Architect, or Database Specialty).
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Exposure to MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.

Qualifications

  • Any graduate (Bachelor's degree in any discipline).
  • 3–6 years of relevant experience as a Database Administrator, with a focus on MySQL and cloud database management.
