MySql DBA Admin Job in Bangalore L1 Database Support Engineer (MySQL)

About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented L1 Database Support Engineer with strong fundamentals in MySQL and  RDS. This role is ideal for candidates who want to build their career in database administration, production support, and cloud-based database environments.

The candidate will work closely with development and infrastructure teams to monitor, maintain, troubleshoot, and support live production databases and applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and support MySQL databases in production and staging environments
• Handle day-to-day database support activities and issue resolution
• Write and optimize SQL queries for better performance
• Monitor slow queries and assist in query tuning and indexing
• Perform database backup and restore operations
• Troubleshoot database connectivity and performance issues
• Support database deployments, updates, and maintenance activities
• Assist developers in database-related troubleshooting
• Monitor database health, uptime, and server resource usage
• Manage database users, permissions, and access controls
• Maintain proper documentation of incidents and resolutions
• Coordinate with internal technical teams during production issues

Required Skills

• Good knowledge of MySQL & RDS Database Administration
• Strong understanding of SQL queries, joins, indexes, and normalization
• Basic understanding of query optimization and performance tuning
• Familiarity with backup and restore processes
• Basic Linux command knowledge
• Ability to troubleshoot production issues logically
• Good communication and coordination skills
• Willingness to learn and work in live production environments

Good to Have

• Exposure to cloud databases or managed database services
• Understanding of replication and read replicas
• Basic scripting knowledge (Shell/Python)
• Knowledge of monitoring tools and logs
• Exposure to production support environments
